Prompt Basics
A great prompt balances clarity and specificity without becoming cluttered. Start with the main subject, then add modifiers that describe appearance, clothing, environment, lighting, camera and style. Use short phrases separated by commas. Prefer concrete nouns and vivid adjectives over abstract terms.
- Structure: subject, attributes, environment, lighting, camera, mood, style.
- Be specific: replace “nice lighting” with “soft rim light, warm key light, golden hour”.
- Composition cues: close-up, medium shot, full body, from below, 3/4 view, centered.
- Camera: 35mm, 85mm portrait, shallow depth of field, f/1.8 bokeh.
- Style: cinematic, editorial, studio portrait, watercolor, cyberpunk, film grain.
- Avoid ambiguity: remove filler like “beautiful, awesome”; replace with concrete visuals.
- Iterate: generate, inspect outcomes, then refine the prompt in small steps.
